Topsfield
Massachusetts is an area of rolling hills and
meandering streams and has some of the highest
land in Essex County. Topsfield has a rural
nature and contains a typical New England town
common.
The town is home to many acres of protected land
and trails which includes Bradley Palmer State
Park. It is an excellent choice for hiking and
biking in the spring and summer and cross
country skiing in the winter. Topsfield also has
plenty of agricultural land and hosts the
Topsfield Fair.
The Topsfield Fair is America’s oldest
agricultural fair established in 1818 and held
every October during harvest time. The Fair is
chock full of agricultural exhibits as well as
homemade baked goods and farm animals. There is
also a largest pumpkin contest-always the most
popular exhibit. It also has plenty for the kids
including great stuff to eat and also a midway
loaded with amusement park rides and games and a
parade. The Topsfield Fair is a fun time for
everyone and well worth the price of admission.
Plan to spend a day there next October-you will
be glad you did.
